Instrumental Music Program

​​BAND PROGRAM

​Currently the band consists of over 95 students across the Junior Band, Senior Band and Jazz Band.  Mr​ Steven McKay is the Instrumental Music Coordinator at St Andrew's. The school band perform at school events such as the fair, liturgies and masses.  They also hold a Twilight Concert each semester and compete in the Catholic Schools Music Festival each year.​

The Instrumental Program at St Andrew's is guided by a belief in the following principles:

  • The right of each individual to develop his/her potential

  • To develop an understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of music

  • To develop a further knowledge of music and develop an appreciation of the discipline required in performance

  • To use music to develop the individual – socially, emotionally and physically​

Band tuition is offered on the ​flute, alto and saxophones, trumpet, trombone, clarinet, bass clarinet, bass guitar, euphonium, baritone and percussion.​

Currently the String Program consists of students from Year 4 to Year 6. Mrs Annette Milliken is the String Program Coordinator at St Andrew's. 

The String Ensemble perform at school events such as the fair, liturgies and masses.  They also hold a Twilight Concert each semester and compete in the Catholic Schools Music Festival.​

Tuition is offered on the violin, viola, cello, double bass and guitar.

Students are required to attend a 30 minute lesson once a week, as well as an ensemble rehearsal once per week.
