Music Program

Instrumental lessons are on Thursdays and Fridays. A timetable is available from your class teacher. Just as has been the practice in the past, the new timetable will rotate lessons on a weekly basis so students do not miss the same class every week. Please make sure students bring their instrument and music tutor book on the day of their lesson.

Currently the programme consists of over 95 students with both a Junior Band and Senior Band. Mr Steven McKay is the Instrumental Music Coordinator at St Andrews. Please contact Steven McKay at the following email address:

The Instrumental Programme at St Andrews Catholic School is guided by a belief in the following principles:

  • The right of each individual to develop his/her potential
  • To develop an understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of music
  • To develop a further knowledge of music and develop an appreciation of the discipline required in performance
  • To use music to develop the individual – socially, emotionally and physically

The school band members compete in the Catholic Schools Music Festival each year.
